Bellingen Golf Club 19th November 2018
Wednesday 14th - the annual Bellingen Veterans Open Day sponsored by Jan and Stan McCabe, ably assisted by Tony Brown. 39 players enjoyed good conditions, having been rained off last month. A Grade champion was Bruce Mitchell with a fantastic 44 points, R/U was Jim Fahey with 38 and 3rd went to Maryanne Perry’s 36. B Grade was a close affair, Warren King winning on a C/B with 38 points over R/U Vilma Neill. Third place Bruce Tait with 37. NTPs were won by Jim Fahey, Ted Callander, Mike Summerill, Bill Fahey, Chris Chittenden and Tony Brown. The longest drive in A Grade was made by Bruce Mitchell, and in B Grade by Bob Stockton. After lunch a monster raffle, where the star prize of a TV went to Jan Monico. In the afternoon, 15 players tried the Short Course and the winner was B Sheather on nett 19.3, and one target hole. R/U was Tom Willett. The second target hole fell to Lincoln Head.
Thursday 15th - 13 players in the Medley 9 hole comp this week and the winner was Linda Hillman with a magnificent 20 points over R/U Marty Irvin on 18. Two NTPs went to Ruth Hall, both with birdies.
Saturday 17th - a Single Stableford sponsored kindly by APIA Insurance. The run of good scores continued, A Grade won by Glenn Jones with a fine 40 points over Nick Jenkins on 39. B Grade saw another tight battle, Craig McMahon prevailing over Richard Raward, 44 points to 43. The ball run went to 37 on a C/B and included Col McLelland, Mike Raymond, Peter Szaif, Justin Alford and Col Hoskins. NTPs were won by Bruce Mitchell (2),Nick Jenkins, Col Hoskins and Tony Brown, and Ruth Hall caused much celebration on the 15th with her first Hole In One!
Captain’s Log - the Bellingen Ladies’ AGM will be held in the clubhouse on Thursday 6th December at 11am. Don’t forget the Builders’ Picnic - Monday 3rd December. Next week we have a 2 Ball Better Ball sponsored by Office Choice.
