Bellingen Golf Club 14 May 2018
Another glorious week of golfing weather in Bellingen.
Wednesday 9th - Rowan Hickson was the Chook Run Champ this week with 18 points on a C/B over Ross Williams. No NTPs recorded.
Thursday 10th - ten players for the 9 hole Medley Stableford and the winner with 18 points and one NTP was Ruth Hall. The second NTP went to Nev Farrar. Next week’s Medley is an 18 hole Stroke round, don’t forget! Later in the day eight Seniors took to the course, where the victor was Jim Ginis on 25 points. Ross Williams was again the bridesmaid on a C/B with 23 points. NTPs went to John Lavis (2) and Bruce Tait.
Saturday 12th - the Monthly Medal enticed 32 players, sponsored kindly by Westlawn Finance. A Grade winner, taking the Medal, the Monthly Mug and the putting comp (23), was Craig Blyth with 68 nett, over R/U Nick Jenkins on 69. Jayden Taylor’s 73 was the best gross of the day. B Grade champ (nett and gross) was Bruce Mitchell with 89/69 over Shane Heffernan’s 90/70. C Grade was taken by Pat Gray with 106/70 over Gerry Peguero’s 95/72, also the best gross. Balls went to 71 and included Glenn Jones, Jayden Taylor and Peter Tyson. NTPs went to Gavin Brown, Ross Williams, Bruce Mitchell, Jenko, Tyso and The Heff. Next week’s comp is a 2 Ball Stableford sponsored by Insurance Advisernet.
On a sadder note, Chris Smith announced his final resignation from the role of Club Captain after multiple stints over the last 15 years. As he hangs up his hat for the last time, all at the Club would like to thank him for his service, his humour and sometimes even his patience! Smithy leaves a big hole to fill and we will miss him. If you are a Full Golfing Member and would like to nominate as Captain, or as a member of the Golf Committee, forms are available at the bar and a vote of Full Members will be held in the coming weeks.
