Bellingen Golf Club 10th December 2018
Monday 3rd - the annual Builders’ Picnic Day organised by Geoff Johnson and sponsored kindly by Steel Line Doors, Bunnings, Inspiration Paints, Bellingen Cellars and Eagles Plumbing. 10 teams of 4 battled out an Ambrose and the winners were from Team Phillips with a nett 54 5/8, narrowly beating Team Clark on 54 7/8. NTPs went to Smithy (2), Chris Phillips, R Watt and Errol Danzy, and a lot of fun was had by all.
Wednesday 5th - only 9 players for the Chook Run this week, the winner was Bruce Mitchell with 24 points over Richard Ireland’s 19. Bruce also took the NTP. In the Short Course this week’s winner was Christian Granville with a nett 22.1 over R/U Richard Raward on 24.5. The Target holes were won by Rowan Hickson and Richard Raward. Do remember to collect your vouchers from the bar.
Thursday 6th - 11 players for the Thursday Medley 9 hole Stableford, Jan Monico the victor with a fine 22 points over R/U Karen Wilson on 19. NTPs were taken by Vilma Neill and Robbie Farrar. Later in the afternoon there were 12 Seniors for a 12 hole Stableford. Warwick Knight was the winner with 26 points over Jim Ginis with 25 on a C/B. Balls went to Tony Brown, Pat Gray (welcome back!) and Ross Williams. NTPs were grabbed by Tony Brown, Warwick Knight and Mike Edsall.
Saturday 8th - the morning after the Club’s 2018 Presentation Dinner and it was back to serious stuff for 41 players in the Monthly Medal Stroke competition sponsored by Yamaha. A Grade champion and winner of the Monthly Mug for December was Justin Alford with an exceptional nett 62 over R/U Col Osland’s 69. Best gross went to Jaydan Taylor with 74. B Grade Medal (gross and nett) was taken by Merv Brownlee with 87/65 over Tony Bolsden’s nett 69. C Grade was topped by Toby Cuthel with nett 68 over Peter Szaif’s 73. Best gross was Sue Wilson-Brown with 99. Balls went to 70 and included Michael Bekker, Greg Hawke and Ken Harcombe. NTPs were won by Sue Wilson-Brown, Jaydan Taylor, Ruth Hall, Peter Tyson, Kieron Matthews and Greg Hawke. Next Saturday it’s a 2 Ball Aggregate sponsored by Valley Tree Services.
Captain’s Log - thank you to everybody who helped organise the Presentation Dinner, and to those who provided the food and entertainment. It was great to see so many golfers here together with your partners, and seeing our club operating as a true social and community hub. I hope you all had as much fun as it looked like you did!
