Bellingen Golf Club 7th January 2019
Wednesday 2nd - only 6 players for the Chook Run this week and the winner was Ross Williams with 21 points. The Short Course attracted more and resulted in possibly the first ever Short Course count back - a win for Geoff Ridgewell over Sid Sweeney, both on 26. The target holes went to Brett Weick and R Pollock.
Thursday 3rd - 14 starters for the Seniors and Col McLellan was 2019’s first winner with 25 points over Graham Richardson on 23 on a C/B. Balls went to Tony Brown, Mike Bates, Rowan Hickson and Bruce Tait. Tony Brown had a bumper day - he won all three NTPs!
Saturday 5th - a Single Stableford to kick off the year, sponsored kindly by Robbie and Nev Farrar. A good field recorded some very good scores, A Grade topped by Mike Raymond with 42 over Tony Brown’s 39 on a C/B. In B Grade the win went to Anaan Van Leeuwen on 41 over R/U Nev Farrar on 40. NTPs went to Ruth Hall, Sue Wilson-Brown, Bruce Baigent, Brad Nesbitt, Peter Lawrance and Toby Cuthel. The ball run went to 36 and included Trevor Wilson-Brown, John Molloy, Bruce Baigent, Merv Brownlee, Chris Smith, Stan McCabe and Ruth Hall. Next week in a change to the advertised competition we’ll be having a Single Stableford sponsored by Coopers.
Captain’s Log - Results for the two week Christmas period are up on the Club noticeboard. Finally, the hugest of huge THANKS to all those who helped to clear up the course in the working bees after the wild storms. Dave Goodman, Maurie Tate, Tom Munnelly, Nathan & Richard Hinton, Jacki Glanville, Oz, Simon Noble, JT, Matt Clarke, Woolley, Jamie Burley, Chris Smith, Paul Lazarus, John Carty, Glenn Jones - if I’ve forgotten anyone please forgive me! Without you helping there may not have been any golf at all.
